Session Title: Dynamic IPT – Recent developments for implementation’

Within the last years, dynamic wireless power transfer has made progress from lab research to large-scale implementations. First projects at an industrialized scale are about to start within the next years. This session shall provide an overview on the latest developments of this emerging technology with a special focus onto interoperability, control strategies and new technologies, as these are fundamental for implementations and rollout strategies. Implementation concepts range from infrastructure for fleet operations to standardized infrastructure for everybody (maybe even with interoperability to already existing, standardized WPT systems for stationary charging).
This session shall help to provide an overview of recent global R&D activities.

Session Title: Microwave RF Wireless Power Transfer I

Far field wireless power transfer (WPT) is recently one of hot topics in the WPT to and put into practical use in the world. Especially wide beam and multi user far field WPT will be soon in the world as the practical application with new radio regulation. The wide beam WPT is very useful like WiFi, however, system efficiency is very low like WiFi. As next step to expand the far field WPT application, narrow beam WPT with high efficiency to single user, e.g. mobile, drone, electric vehicle, and Solar Power Satellite. For the high efficiency narrow beam WPT, we expect high efficiency antenna, effective beam forming theory and technology, accurate target detecting, high efficiency device and circuit, high frequency device and circuit, harmonization with conventional wireless communications, and safety issue. For the narrow beam WPT, we can apply not radio wave but also laser. In this session, we focus on the theory, technology, and application of the beam-type WPT.

The automotive system requires electric propulsion for energy and environment issues. As the demand on the electric vehicles is increasing in automotive market, the role of wireless power transfer technology is becoming more important. In this special session, the key technology of wireless power transfer system for vehicular applications will be presented. The dynamic wireless power transfer technology in autonomous driving system, solutions for the electromagnetic field effect on the human body, optimal coil topologies for high efficiency will be discussed.
